Food Selectivity Treatment
For kids who eat a narrow range of foods, refuse whole food groups, or turn every meal into a battle — support built on an evidence-based, choice-driven feeding protocol.
No pressure, no bribery, no forced bites.
Not All Picky Eating Looks the Same
Your child's eating might range from a few avoided foods to much more serious refusal — and treatment looks different depending on where they fall.
Picky Eating
A narrow but still functional range of foods — the mildest, most common presentation.
Food Aversion
Strong resistance to specific foods or textures, often with gagging, crying, or refusal to come near the food.
Complete Oral Refusal
No solid food by mouth, sometimes with tube feeding — needs interdisciplinary medical involvement first.
Choice at Every Step
Your child always chooses which food to engage with, what to do with it, and whether to participate at all. We never use forced bites or escape extinction — bravery is always an option, never required.
Our Values Framework
Before any session, we ask:
Is it safe?
Is it something we'd be comfortable with filmed?
Is it strengthening our relationship with your child?
Only once those are true do we consider whether it's moving toward a teaching goal.
How Treatment Actually Works
Your child's eating might range from a few avoided foods to much more serious refusal — and treatment looks different depending on where they fall.
Phase 1
Bite Shaping
Small, individualized steps — from looking at a food, to touching it, to a single bite — each one chosen by your child, each one reinforced.
Phase 2
Meal Building
Once a bite is mastered, we shape up to a full meal — gradually increasing the amount, at your child's pace.
Phase 3
Parent Extension
We train you to run the exact same process at home, so progress holds up at your table — not just ours.

-
A diagnosis is not needed for private pay and some scholarship options. A diagnosis of Autism is required for Medicaid or insurance funded services.
-
No. Choice is built into every step — your child decides which food, what to do with it, and whether to participate at all. Nothing is ever forced.
-
It varies by child. Bite Shaping moves one small step at a time, Meal Building shapes up to a full meal once a bite is mastered, and Parent Extension is considered complete once your child eats two consecutive full meals with you as the implementer.

Before beginning, we confirm two things through a screening questionnaire and your child's medical team: that your child is a safe oral feeder, and that a medical professional has confirmed their caloric and nutritional needs are already being met some other way — since this program works gradually, over weeks or months, not immediately. We'll also ask about any prior oral-motor evaluations, swallow studies, and known food allergies as part of this screening.
